Communion Coming Up
The Knights of Council 12686 will gather at 9:00AM Mass, Sunday, May 12th(Mother’s Day), as is our custom to attend Mass and Communion as a group every calendar quarter. All parishoners are invited for coffee and doughnuts and a little fellowship with the Knights afterward in the Melancon Center
Outstanding Youths from our parish will receive this award on May 12th at the quarterly Communion Mass of the Knights. See Ric Rodriguez for details.
Activity Worksheets
Brother Jerry Madere, Financial secretary, requests that each Knight keep a monthly activity worksheet. See Jerry for the blank forms.
These hours will be tallied up each year and submitted to Supreme to demonstrate how active we are.
No one will know if we don't keep track.
On November 30th and the morning of December 1st about 9 of you Knights and your wives assembled scores of advent wreaths for our parishioners to observe Advent, the coming of Jesus. Some of you helped distribute the lovely greens on this same weekend. Our thanks goes out to all who worked this labor intensive project.
To assist the Altar Society there was a substantial turnout of Knights for decorating the church December 17th, 18th & 19th. The calendar put the 4th Sunday of Advent on December 23rd , so the decorations had to go up, way up with 30ft ladders, the week before. Christmas trees mounted in concrete took four men to lift onto their pedestals. Then in January it all had to be taken down and there were Knights to do it. Thanks to all who worked that project.
Yes, Knights were there to help the Altar Society hang 20ft long banners from near the ceiling of the Sanctuary. They put out many pots of Easter lilies as well. The decorations contribute to the glorious celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus. The Altar Society is grateful.
Brother Knight William vonAlmen, M.D. and his wife, Madeline, and Anthony Maurin, Council Director, will receive the medal at St. Louis Cathedral, Sunday, May 5th. The award is given by the Archdiocese for service to St. Catherine of Siena parish.

Chapel of the Holy
Innocents
Our council considers the Chapel of the Holy
Innocents our statement against abortion. Backing our conviction with a visible
presence, this council voted at the general meeting, 1-7-02, to contribute
$10,000 over a period of 5 years, to renovate the old baptistry into a chapel,
separate from the main church. This chapel would serve as the place for daily
Mass and perpetual adoration also.
If every Knight in this council gives $40
per year ($3.33 per month) for 5 years, that makes $200 per Knight. 50 Knights
doing this would make the $10,000. Those pledge cards you signed in January are
just that – pledges. The $40 is payable on your terms. If we come up
short our treasury will have to fill the gap.
Please do not make your chapel payments to
the Parish Office because some payments have already been confused and
deposited in the Capital Campaign which is separate from the Knights.
Make your payments to the Knights, Ron
Altobello.
Chaplain's Column
Last month I received very good news from the members of Council 12686. It came in the form of a pledge card for our capital campaign. Many of you will know that I suggested that one of the ways for the Council to participate in our parish’s many pro-life initiatives was to have its name on the dedicatory plaque which will adorn our new Chapel of the Holy Innocents.
This naming opportunity has been set for all parishioners and groups at $10,000.00. The monies could be given over a period of five years. Council 12686 has again given witness of its care for our parish by making such a pledge. I am not surprised at this effort. I have seen it again and again in matters great and small. On behalf of the family of St Catherine of Siena, I thank you, Brothers, for this pledge and for everything you do for this parish.
The pledge was a corporate promise made on behalf of all members of the Council. Now I wish to refer to another promise, this time individual rather than collective. There are people in our parish, including yours truly, who would like to see our new chapel become a center for Perpetual Adoration of the Holy Eucharist. I will be speaking about this to you at future meetings, but for now, I just want to say our parish could rise to a new level of spirituality with Perpetual Adoration. I am asking you individually at this early date to give prayerful attention to taking an hour of adoration each week. Again, this is not a Council project, but an individual commitment through the Council. I will be asking this of all members of the parish eventually.
It may be possible to begin Perpetual Adoration in another venue before the chapel is renovated. Therefore, I ask you to consider such a commitment sooner rather than later.
As always, I am proud to be your chaplain. In these trying times your support of me personally is much needed and appreciated.

From Our Grand Knight
My term as Grand Knight is coming to a close. In reflection on the past two years, I hope that I was able to carry the torch that was lit by Chris DiLeo. It has been an arduous journey and a learning experience for all of us. We have had our ups and downs but I truly believe we are moving in the right direction.
In looking back we can be proud of the work we have begun. The spaghetti dinner for Brittany Dugas was a wonderful experience for everyone involved. It was here that the first point on our compass, CHARITY, one of our principles, was employed. The Lenten Fish Fries, with more than half of the membership working together and enjoying the comradeship, have really solidified us as an organization. Here we showed FRATERNITY and UNITY, two more points on our compass. After the September 11th tragedy, we voted to wear the American flag on our shirts showing our PATRIOTISM and our support for those who had fallen and for those in the military who protect our rights with their lives. This is the fourth point on our compass.
We will soon begin a new administration. I hope and pray that you will give the new men your support and prayers as you have done during my terms. Their efforts are for the good of the council and the parish. We need to keep foremost in our minds and hearts the four principles of the Knights of Columbus. We can only survive as an organization if we keep true to these principles and remind ourselves of why we joined the Knights in the first place. For me it was to strengthen my commitment to God through my relationship with others that felt the same way. It was a chance to do for others and to join other men in prayer.
It has been an honor for me to be your Grand Knight.

Insurance News -
Get All the
Facts
If any agent or representative of another company suggests that you cash in or discontinue paying premiums on your Knights of Columbus insurance policy, please call me immediately.
Why? Because the replacement of one policy with another can cost you substantial amounts of money! You may have accumulated cash values and dividends in your present policy that would take years to build up in a new one.
Losing money may not be the only problem. Your existing policy probably has guaranteed options which are more favorable to you and your beneficiaries than those in the new policy. And if your financial needs have changed, there’s a good chance that the old policy can be adjusted to meet your current situation.
Should a replacement attempt be made, be sure you have all the facts. Call me and give me an opportunity to review the replacement proposal with you so you will have both sides of the story. Then you can make a financially sound decision.
